This State of the University Poster aims to shed light on the research conducted at Chapman University, specifically with regards to bringing students and staff back on campus amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. A microscope extends down from the sky to observe a petri dish of Memorial Lawn at sunset. The ellipses in the grass double as both students and the “specimen” that the microscope is observing. The buildings are illustrated in perspective to effectively capture the most recognizable view on campus. The headline “Rising Through Research” is used to amplify the educational, emotional, and social growth that Chapman University has endured because of research in recent years. Official Chapman colors and typography are used to maintain cohesion with university branding. A sunset paints the background to reflect the idea that scientists have been working night and day to make in-person classes possible. Edition 14 is engraved in roman numerals on the microscope.
